ALL DANCERS BACKSTAGE ½ HOUR BEFORE CURTAIN RISES.  Students should arrive at the Pascal Center in costume, and with makeup already on.  The lighting on the stage will wash out features; therefore students should wear a pale color eye shadow, black mascara, rosy blush, and red lipstick. Students are prohibited from being in the audience with costumes on.  Those students who wish to stay and watch the second half of the recital should bring a change of clothes for sitting in the audience. Dancers may not sit in the audience during the first half.

In addition:

Ballet and Creative Movement:

Girls: You are required to wear footed, theatrical pink Danskin or ballet pink Capezio tights, and pink ballet slippers. Do not wear underwear under your tights. Hair should be pulled securely into a bun, using a hair net, hairpins or bobby pins, and hair spray.  No jewelry is allowed.

Boys: Check with your teacher for shoes and tights color.

Beginning Lyrical students are required to wear footless, light suntan Capezio tights and tan Capezio sandalsoles.

Intermediate Lyrical  students need Capezio footed caramel tights and Capezio caramel pedini femme shoes.

Jazz, Modern, and Advanced Lyrical students please check with your teacher for requirements.

Flowers – Parents may wish to give flowers to their children after they have performed. All flowers must be presented to students BACKSTAGE only.  Soloists only, may receive flowers on stage.  Please do not interrupt the process of the curtain call by ignoring this policy.

Photographs and video – Cameras requiring a flash are strictly prohibited.  Under no circumstances should pictures requiring a flash be taken at any time during dress rehearsal or performances.  The flash blinds the dancers causing confusion and possible injury.  Video cameras may be used during the dress rehearsal only.  A video/DVD of each performance may be purchased separately through order forms available in class or in the lobby on the night of the performance.

Dress Rehearsal  - Attendance at dress rehearsal is mandatory.  Students should come to the rehearsal in costume, with the same tights, shoes, and hairstyle that will be worn in the performance.

Audience Etiquette: - Audience members are encouraged to clap during a dance as difficult technical steps are executed, and of course, as each dance is finished.  To exclaim "Bravo!" is also acceptable at the end of a piece.  However, whooping, hollering out names, or cheering is a show of bad manners.  Please save these types of enthusiasm for sporting events.

Volunteers are needed to collect tickets and pass out programs before each performance.  There will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board for anyone who is willing to help out.

The recital is open to the public and will be publicized in the local newspapers. Please feel free to invite your relatives and friends.
